This wedding season is only getting better. Last week I was delighted to wake up to the news that I had received three awards from the WPJA (Wedding Photojournalist Association), including another Gold Masterpiece Award. I can’t even express how chuffed I am about the awards knowing how highly competitive these contests are.
My personal favourite is the photo of… toilets. I remember looking at the scene and thinking “perhaps it’s not something I should photograph at a wedding”. But then I couldn’t resist the temptation and pressed the shutter button. It looked so perfectly composed with the guests chatting in the front and two small silhouettes in the background, illuminated by strong, yellow light coming from toilet cubicles. And that’s exactly what I love about documentary wedding photography. It’s all about chasing real moments.
